FOOD: Typical Polish lunch: kotlet schabowy, zupa szczawiowa

Polish people eat a lot of soups. Back in the days the blended soups were not so popular that is why I traditional polish soup is a one that has actual pieces of veggies on it. This kind of soup is also my favorite as I like to see what I eat instead of stuffing enigmatic blended cream into my mouth. Especially when dining out.
Typical lunch in Poland usually consist of a soup as a 1st dish - starter. Soups can be a little watery or more dense or creamy. The density can be adjusted by added thing called 'zasmażka' made of butter, flour and water or by adding cream. For a 2nd dish we would usually eat a piece of meat, potatoes and vegetable addition. The most popular choice would be kotlet schabowy

1. KOTLET SCHABOWY + MIZERIA + ZIEMNIAKI

KOTLET SCHABOWY (Kotlet - a piece of meat, Schabowy- from pork)

Pork tenderloin is cut into 1 inch slices and pounded with mallet until it becomes thinner and soft. Eggs and spices are combined on a separate plate and lightly beaten. The meat is dipped in flour, then in egg, and then covered in breadcrumbs. The oil is heated in a frying pan till it starts to sizzle and the meat is placed onto it, then turned over a couple of times. Served hot. [source]

MIZERIA: sliced fresh green cucumber with yogurt or low fat cream. Seasoned with salt and pepper.

ZIEMNIAKI: potatoes

2. Green soup with egg called SZCZAWIOWA

Now try to say it three times in a row, fast..I dare you! ;)

Szczaw is a sorrel plant (latin name Rumex acetosa L.). It is a delicious sour soup and we always add a hard boiled egg to it. Just because. We do it.
