Maksymilian Faktorowicz (15 September 1872 – 30 August 1938), also known as Max Factor Sr., was a Polish-Jewish businessman, entrepreneur and inventor. Founder of the cosmetics giant Max Factor & Company , he largely developed the modern cosmetics industry and popularised the term make-up in noun form based on the verb. Born Maksymilian Faktorowicz September 15, 1872 Zduńska Wola, Congress Poland. Died August 30, 1938 (aged 65) Beverly Hills, California In 1929 Max Factor was awarded an Oscar by the Academy Awards for his contribution to the film industry.

A-maze-d: Green Labyrinths of Poland

I like puzzles, mazes and get really excited when people start to talk about treasure hunting and secrets (like recent news about the Nazi Gold train found by treasure hunter s in Walbrzych, Poland). One of my favorite movies would be 'The Gonnies'. Maybe that is why I am always interested in news about treasures or labyrinths...or a pot of gold waiting on the other side of the rainbow. Onion currency of Poland and the sandals + socks fashion

We the Poles laugh at ourselves that we are the onion people. Onion is one of the top export vegetables of Poland as the area of onion grow is around 25 000 ha. In a sarcastic way we call our currency (polish zloty, PLN) - the onion zloty (onion is 'cebula' in polish) so the PLN we would translate as 'cebulion'. We also name some strange or non standard behaviors as onionish - 'cebulactwo' for example if someone is really cheap or in spite of having average level of income still is a typical scrooge - loves his money more than anything in the world and seldom spends any more of it than he has to. Also we make fun of ourselves wearing socks with sandals or with plastic mules during summer. As an addition we also carry a lot of plastic bags with ourselves. Those bags are a pure treasure.
